Art Club, Dale Chihuly Sculpture Designing
February 7, 2023
The YHS Art Club is currently hard at work on the Dale Chihuly-inspired sculpture they are building for the art hallway. When finished, the colorful piece will hang from the ceiling and feature many different shapes and designs. Although it is currently a work in progress, the Art Club’s director, Mrs. Pavlechko, is eager to see how it will turn out. Club members met on February 6th to start the primary coloring and design process, giving the individual pieces bright translucent colors. The greatest feat of this piece is that it is entirely made up of recycled water bottles collected by the club; a highly creative way to give the appearance of blown glass while maintaining structural integrity. YHS students should expect to find the finished piece in the hall by the end of the coming months. It will be the Art Club’s biggest project yet.
