Every year the Yorktown High School cheerleaders host a Tiny Tiger Clinic this year having 150 participants . It’s open to kindergarten through 8th grade students. This year kindergarten through fifth graders learned a dance and 2 sideline cheers. And the 6th, 7th and 8th graders learned the first half of the fight song, 3 sideline cheers, and a couple of stunts. The range of cheerleading moves allowed the participants to get a feel of what YHS cheer is about.  Senior Delaney Taylor said, “Tiny Tigers is a way for Yorktown kids to be a cheerleader for a day. They learn a dance at a clinic and then they get to perform the dance at the football game. It is a great introduction to sideline cheer.”

In addition to planning the clinic, the cheerleaders select a theme that goes with the music they dance to and also matches the shirts they wear. The shirts were black with pink, yellow and green.  Addie Fauguher said, “This year’s theme is 80’s and we had 80’s songs and theme shirts”.

Each year the YHS Cheer members look forward to this clinic. Junior Leia Kindt’s favorite part is “seeing all of the little kids with big smiles on their faces. And so excited to be with us and how they look up to us.”
